Séance 001 : The Interview
As the Gen X daughter of a Baby Boomer mother, Susie and her mom had a relationship that was both complex and complicated and often combative, in the way many of these relationships are. Susie often felt her mother was never really interested in getting to know her, as a person separate from her.   After a lifetime of miscommunication, and almost a decade of no communication at all, a second-cousin sent Susie a link to a series of interviews Susie’s mom had conducted in the 1990s, while doing family research.  Susie heard her mom’s voice for the first time in 7 years.

With the help of audio engineer Anne Pope, Susie compiled relevant questions from several of the interviews her mom conducted, and answered them as honestly and openly as possible, see what comes out — about herself, about her mother, about the mother-daughter relationship.
